As a modification and further development of the screw pump, melt pumps were developed in the 1930s, which were used for kneading and conveying rubber compounds. Ten years later, these machines and systems were used for processing thermoplastics. Today, co-rotating twin screw extruders and extrusion lines are offered, which are used in the plastics sector in compounding, masterbatch production, direct extrusion of films, pipes and sheets. In addition, pharmaceutical products and food products are also produced on the extruders. Leistritz Extrusionstechnik GmbH has always had Nürnberg as its headquarters and operates worldwide through Leistritz subsidiaries in China, France, Italy, Singapore and the USA.
